Patshull Park supports MacMillan Cancer Support
29 July 2014
When taking over at any Golf Club, the Captain has a number of decisions to make concerning the continued welfare of the Club, its members and the other many, varied people who are to become involved during his year.
Norman Ball took over having served the two previous years as President and was able to build on that experience knowing he would have the support of his predecessor and of his Vice Catain and ultimate successor. In both instances, this support proved invaluable.
Club matches, County competitions and championhip competitions within the Club come thick and fast during the golfing season and it was pleasing to see that every section of the Club improved significantly with some really remarkable results.
During the year, numerous events are held for the benefit of the Captains Charity ranging from St George's Day competition to Captain's Day, an event blessed by the weather and the skill of our very own Barbeque Chef who fed not only the golfers in the competition but also many Hotel golfing guests who contributed generously to the charity.
Norman's chosen charit was Macmillan Cancer Support whose work is well known and appreciated. Coincidentally, MacMillan is also supported by Patshull Park Hotel who decided to channel their fundraising proceeds into the Captains Charity.
As a result of all these efforts, we were able to present a cheque for £7210.43 to Emily Morgain, the local fundraiser for MacMillan.
To finalise a most eventful year, Norman would like to thank the committee and members together with Hoetl staff for all their support, and not forgetting some very generous Hotel guests!
